Last day on the slopes, we say adieu to gondolas, 3 course meals, friendly french people and below zero temperatures. All in all, if you disregard pants tearing whilst on the slope (and telling your better half to fix it with a handy needle and thread in the girls rest room), almost forgetting your back pack on a mountain, experiencing a complete white out while you’re 2300m high up and getting lost for those 10 minutes, it was a really good trip. It snowed nearly all week, so the pistes were nice and powdery and if you were to fall, you wouldn’t break your neck. And what also amazed me were the snowboarders – they all looked the part. Male or female, you have to look like Shaun White. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first day or you’re an instructor, you have to look good. Every one is kitted out, from colourful Burton boards, trippy Oakley goggles, patterned Quicksilver jackets to jet black Vans boots and comfy Gortex gloves. I do hope that one day I’ll see Fat Gold on the mountains and in the Meribel stores, it’s just a matter of time.

We will make our way back to the tiny rock tomorrow and hope that we don’t encounter any freak weather or nasty turbulence. If you haven’t been boarding I do suggest you try it out. Not for the faint hearted or for people that are afraid of heights, but it certainly is a blast.

See you on the rock, and if you happen to be there, come over to Neue on Saturday the 23rd at SoBar.

Stay gold.

Been a while since I’ve posted something, thats because its quite difficult to find some wifi in the Alps, so I’m in the a corner of the kitchen stealing some internet from our next door neighbour. Good stuff. So far, so good. Food is awesome thanks to Jen & Wiremu, an ozzy and a kiwi, the pistes are powdery and I actually got a suntan on part of my face. All limbs in tact, no need for insurance till now. I will try to post some images later on, if that wifi bar decides to go up at least by one. Till then.

So me and some friends of mine are off snowboarding in France for the yearly do of freezing our asses off and disturbing the peace. Baring in mind that Malta is, right now, 18 degrees and awesome weather pretty much all year round, I don’t know if my body is going to react that well when it hits the -2 degrees in France. That is if we arrive there after all, cause all the flights are getting delayed cause of the nasty snow. Ahh, can’t wait, beer, snow, pool, let’s go already. Here’s my attempt of packing. Got the flight entertainment sorted…

…And as long as I have these below I’m good to go.

Let’s hit the slopes.

You’re gonna see a bit more of the Neue Nights here on the blog, cause I want to change the odd raver’s mentality about choice of music and venue. Hence Neue Nights. Good music, no Techno. Sounds like a blast to me. Come over if you’re in town or on the rock. First one –  23rd January, then 30th January with a new set of djs and stickers…

If you were one of the TDDR crew, we’ll probably see you there, if you’re not one of the crew, this is what you can expect: Lots of happy happy people with lemons in their hands instead of drinks. Awesome.

liquer

Who knew you can drink gold? I’m serious, we got this orange liquer as a xmas present. Pretty cool, pretty freaky. It’s called Danzig Goldwasser, there’s 23 Karat gold leaf in there and you’re supposed to drink it after dinner. 40% alcohol… Now we’re talkin’. It’s aptly marketed as “The Taste of Real Gold”… Now that’s a collab I would want to do.

I’ll have  a great birthday this year, cause we’re off to Margin on Feb the 13th to exhibit our collection to the press and hopefully get a couple of distributors on the way. The trade show Margin is in London and it’s there to help new labels such as us to reach a wider buying and press audience. Need to get ready those new tees. More info coming soon on every aspect of it. Till now that is one of the newsletters that is circling around the net. Have a look at Margin here, you’ll be amazed at what cool stuff there is.
